Duct Cleaning - Questions

Q: How often should my residential heating and air conditioning system be cleaned?
A: Lee Company recommends that most residential heating and air conditioning systems be cleaned once every five years. You might consider cleaning your heating and air conditioning system more often if you or your family suffer from allergies or asthma; you have pets that shed large amounts of hair or dander; you have smokers in your household; or you experience water contamination in your home. We also recommend heating and air conditioning system cleanings prior to moving into a new home, or after remodeling or renovating your existing home.

Q: How do you clean heating and air conditioning systems?
A: Lee Company technicians use the “source removal” method, the most effective way to clean air ducts and ventilation systems. We connect a powerful vacuum to your HVAC system that reverses the airflow, pulling dust and loose debris from your ducts. We also use special tools during the process to loosen any debris stuck on the inside of the ducts.

Q: How long will it take to clean the ducts in my heating and air conditioning system?
A: It takes approximately six to eight hours to properly clean the heating and air conditioning ducts a 2000-2500 square foot home. Certain factors can make the job take longer, such as where your duct is located, the types of ducts in your home, and how accessible the ducts are for connecting the vacuum.

Q: Will my house be covered in dust after the duct cleaning?
A: No, we attach the vacuum to the trunk line of your ducts, so you should not see any additional dust in your home. In fact, customers notice less dust in their homes after their ducts have been cleaned!

Q: Can I be home while the duct cleaning work is performed?
A: Yes, you and your family can be home while the duct cleaning work is being performed. Please note that we’ll need to turn off your heating or air conditioning during the process, so your home may be warmer or cooler depending on the season.

Q: How will I know if my heating and air conditioning system has been properly cleaned?
A: Lee Company technicians will visually inspect your ducts both before and after the cleaning process to ensure all of the dust and debris is removed. We also can provide a video of our inspection.  We don’t consider our job complete until all the ducts are clean.

Q: Will there be any hidden charges after the work is done?
A: No, Lee Company never adds hidden charges. In fact, you will know the final price and can even pay for the duct cleaning services before our technician ever arrives.  Additional fees would only occur if you request additional services that were not part of the original quote (such as dryer duct cleaning) after the technician arrives at your home.

Q: Will cleaning my heating and air conditioning system reduce my home energy bills?
A: Research by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has shown that clean HVAC systems operate more efficiently when their sensitive mechanical components are free from dust and debris. In addition, clean heating and air conditioning  systems have longer lifespans and are less likely to need repairs.
