Nashville Business Journal Honors Bill Lee

March 19, 2015

Bill Lee, Lee Company CEO

Congrats to Lee Company CEO Bill Lee! The Nashville Business Journal just named Bill as one of the winners of the 2015 Williamson County Impact Awards. These awards honor business owners and others who “are leading the charge for improvements and economic development.”

“I consider this a wonderful recognition of the work all of us at Lee Company do to help our communities grow and thrive,” says Bill. “Ever since my grandfather started this company, 70 years ago, we have known that conducting business in an area isn’t enough – to really be part of the community, we need to actively give back and help our communities prosper.”

In addition to economic development work in Williamson County, the award recognizes Bill’s support of development in Rutherford and Wilson counties; Lee Company has offices in all three counties.

Bill is a graduate of Auburn University and has worked at Lee Company for more than 30 years. He and the other 2015 Williamson County Impact Award winners will be recognized during an April 29 luncheon and in a special section of the May 1st Nashville Business Journal.

I am one Lee Company - Leecompany.com

The secret is out. If you’re looking for a great job, look to the trades, such as HVAC, plumbing or electrical. As NPR recently reported: “millions of good-paying jobs are opening up in the trades. And some pay better than what the average college graduate makes.”

Now, Lee Company doesn’t have millions of job openings. But we are hiring the next generation of trade professionals. You might be a good fit for Lee Company if you’re interested in:

  • A corporate culture that focuses on employee growth and success
  • Opportunities to learn a trade and advance in your career
  • Serving others

The first part of Lee Company’s mission is to create a workplace where our employees can thrive. We know our people are our greatest resource, and we invest in them. Training and personal coaching are always available, along with exceptional programs offered through Lee Company University.

Does the approach work? Ask Dan Kalman, our vice president of Home Services. He started working at Lee Company in 1995 as an HVAC technician. Or, talk to Steve Gammon. He joined Lee Company as a plumber in 1991. Now, he’s director of special projects. Keith Bryan started as plumber too – he’s currently director of operations for Home Services.

If you want to talk with someone who has built an entire career at Lee Company, consider Vernon Woodard. Vernon started here as an installation helper – back in 1978. Today, he’s our director of regional development.

When you’re ready for a new career, trade up. Come to Lee Company. You’ll find current openings and opportunities here.

Spring forward. But don’t surge ahead.

Storm surge protectors for HVAC units.Spring is on the way and, along with warmer weather, we can expect storms – the main cause of power surges. Is your home protected from power fluctuations that can damage expensive electrical systems and devices?

Many homeowners think they’re covered if their computers are plugged into a power strip. Unfortunately, that’s not enough. A power surge can enter your home through any wire – even the phone and cable lines. It may last less than a second. However, in that miniscule amount of time, it can do massive damage, frying expensive electronics and appliances. One brief surge can also hurt your HVAC system, typically the most expensive mechanical system in a home.

The risk is real. The time is right. Purchase a surge protector now, and “spring forward” with one less job on your to-do list. A surge protector, sometimes called a surge suppressor, is designed to help protect electrical systems, electronics and appliances from power fluctuations, including the voltage spikes we see with storms.

What’s more, a surge protector offers year-round assurance. That’s important, since storms aren’t the only cause of potentially damaging power fluctuations. The fluctuations may be caused by downed power lines; a temporary power interruption, such as a brownout; or even the on-off cycle of electronics in your home.

Take advantage of our urge to protect you from a surge.

An air conditioning surge protector can bring the peace of mind that comes from knowing your surge protector can:

  • Reduce loss of equipment and the related downtime
  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • Provide a form of low-cost insurance for your HVAC system through the manufacturer.
