505 started as a high-profile project for Lee Company – and that’s how it’s wrapping up! Congratulations to the Lee Company pros who worked on this residential high-rise in downtown Nashville: 505 has been honored with Excellence in Construction awards from the Greater Tennessee and North Alabama chapters of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
505 received the 2018 Eagle Award from the Greater Tennessee Associated Builders and Contractors chapter and the 2018 Excellence Award from the North Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors Chapter.
A landmark project
If you’ve been to Nashville, you’ve seen 505. It’s a skyline gem. Lee Company handled all the HVAC and plumbing for this 46-story building and provided design-assist services to the general contractor.
Safety, always an essential part of any Lee Company project, required special attention at 505, the tallest building we’ve worked on. For example, once construction reached the 30th floor, the wind was constant. All materials and supplies needed to be secured, to prevent dangerous, flying debris.
Our work at 505 also drew strength from Lee Company’s innovative technology. Rather than the standard piping structure, we ran all the residential domestic water piping serving fixtures in the slabs. The approach involved more planning upfront, but cut down on overhead rough-in time.
Challenges are to be expected on a project of this size. No matter what issue arose, Lee Company came through with flying colors. We even pulled together a top-quality team to respond to a last-minute change order, and constructed an amenity deck – successfully and on time.
