EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION: VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY BARNARD

We’re delighted to announce that our work on Vanderbilt University Barnard, a longtime prestigious institution in Nashville, has been honored with a 2018 Excellence in Construction award from the North Alabama Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, just completed Vanderbilt Barnard residential college, a new facility with space for academic needs, along with housing for 340 students, apartments for a faculty member and residential area coordinator, a large dining area, and a huge kitchen. Given Lee Company’s roots in refrigeration, an area few tradesmen specialize in today, the team was called on to engineer and install the kitchen for Vanderbilt Barnard. With a strict timeline, the Lee Company team ensured that the “cool” kitchen was ready to go for incoming students in 2018.
FROM ZERO TO HERO
The kitchen project was a blend; half engineering and half installation. Lee Company took the kitchen layout created by Dykes and designed the piping system around it. Each piece required cooling, and the refrigeration system had to be connected to the compressor rack in the basement.
The Lee Company team drew on years of refrigeration expertise – and today’s virtual construction technology – to design an efficient system and compressor rack. It’s no small job: The final rack was about 30-feet long and 10-feet high.
The final results? Delicious. With Lee Company innovation and expertise, Vanderbilt University was able to provide an incredible kitchen to its many students. Lee Company completed the work on time and on budget.
