Making a Difference for Decades!

July 12, 2018

At Lee Company, we’re honored by the talented people who make our company their professional home. Their dedication and great work enables us to help more and more customers. In turn, as we grow our business, we gain the opportunity to help more employees thrive – one of our big goals!

We want you to know the people who make a difference for all the customers and the communities we serve. Periodically, we’ll highlight team members as they reach milestone career marks. Thanks and congrats to these 2018 achievers!

40 years

Clinton Gentry
Account Representative, Special Projects

Just four days after he graduated from high school, Clinton started work in the sheet metal shop at Lee Company. It was definitely an educated decision: Clinton’s career has flourished here. He has managed and installed two large projects in South Georgia, received his certification and moved into T&B and service work. Finally, Clinton shifted to sales, and became Lee Company’s first Special Projects project manager.

“Lee Company has allowed me to learn, grow and teach others for most of my entire adulthood. What I enjoy most about working here is the people I work with and the friends I’ve made. Most of the people here are much more than coworkers; they are close friends that you can count on to be there when you need them.”

30 years

Angela Curtis

Call Lee Company, or walk through the door at our Wallace Place headquarters, and Angela will be the angel greeting you. She’s a treasure; as our longtime receptionist, she embodies our company culture. In addition to her “front and center” position, Angela has also worked in warehouse/purchasing and commercial accounts receivable.

“I enjoy my role as receptionist because I can make a difference. For example, I can boost the confidence of a nervous candidate waiting in the lobby for a job interview or be the calm voice who reassures a customer that all is well. It’s a matter of simply treating the customers the way you would want to be treated.”

30 years

Wayne Haley
Plumbing Mechanic

Ever since joining Lee Company in 1988, Wayne has been honing his talents and helping our construction teams succeed. He began as a pipefitter, and learned other skills in the field as he worked on a variety of jobs. For years, Wayne traveled to various states for our Construction Group; he moved to manufacturing in 2005 and enjoys mentoring other plumbing professionals.

He says “I love working at Lee Company because I feel like I am treated as a family member and not just an employee.”

20 years

Steve Scott
Senior Vice President of Facilities Solutions

Steve started work at Lee Company in 1998 as a commercial contract salesman and   quickly established himself as a leader. He was promoted to sales manager, then director of our Commercial Service Group, then vice president of Facilities Solutions. He was named senior vice president of Facilities Solutions. Among other things, Steve created our FM2 Group, and started our electrical and security services groups. He also co-developed and led our INSIGHT technology platform.

“My favorite thing about Lee Company is that I am given the opportunity to make a difference every single day in the life of an employee, in the life of a customer or in the life of someone in our community (or around the world) who is impacted because of our ability as a company to give. I hope that in some way over my ‘first’ 20 years that I have made work a little more enjoyable for some, and that I have been able to make a customer’s experience with Lee Company a little better.”

20 years

Barry Parker
Senior Superintendent

Barry’s first job with Lee Company was working as a pipefitter/plumber in our Construction Group. Over the years, he has travelled throughout the country for Lee Company construction projects. His career with us has also taken him to Mexicali, Mexico, where he helped build the Kenworth plant. Good work is rewarded, and Barry has steadily moved his way up. He’s now a role model for reliability and dedication as one of our best senior superintendents in Construction.

“When I came here 20 years ago, I had heard great things about the company, like how they take care of their employees, so I decided to give it a try. I quickly came to the decision to make Lee Company my permanent home! Over the years, I have made many great friendships from the Lee Company family. It has been great stability for me and my family!”

20 years

Tim Delozier
Senior Superintendent

Tim hired on in our Construction Group in 1998, and quickly had the opportunity to travel. While on the road for Lee Company, he has built projects in a number of states, including North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Florida and Georgia – just to name a few. Most recently, he’s been our primary contact for Belmont.

“I think my favorite thing about my job is to hire young people and see them grow into top help. At Lee Company, you get to work on many types of construction projects and learn many things.”

20 years

Josh Rosson
Facilities Solutions Consultant

Josh has come a long way since he started at Lee Company as a part-time employee making the minimum wage of $4.25 in our Large Construction group. Josh started as a pipefitter helper for his dad, a Lee Company pro, and worked summers until he graduated high school. He moved to the commercial maintenance group in 1998, and became a Facilities Solutions consultant.

“Those summers helped mold my future at Lee Company. I always enjoyed working with my dad, but never truly appreciated the life lessons of working with him until I started my own career path.”

Making a Positive Impact in the Community with Special Olympics

May 29, 2018

For five years running, Lee Company’s Annual Golf Tournament benefiting Special Olympics TN Williamson County has been one of our pinnacle events. This year had its share of high fives, long drives, great food, and fellowship.

“As a local organization that provides the opportunity for those with intellectual disabilities to excel in 13 different sports, it is an honor to have Lee Company do so much for us through this golf outing,” said Jon Stephenson, Area Director. “We are beyond blessed to have them along with all the sponsors and golfers support Special Olympics TN Williamson County.”

With the help of sponsors, friends, and customers, more than $216,000 has been raised over the past five years for this organization that is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Ten Special Olympics athletes joined this year’s event, and everyone enjoyed meeting the athletes and hearing their stories. Special Olympics of Williamson County also shared that the funds raised at the tournament will help send two swimmers, one bowler and one powerlifter to the 2018 USA Games in Seattle and one swimmer to the 2019 World Games in Abu Dhabi!

The 17th hole at the Governors Club in Brentwood was as popular as ever this year. Eric Wilson, a returning athlete, was at the hole to make the putt first for each team and he sank a 30-foot putt!

We’re proud to host this event each year and to make an impact on the lives of the athletes. If you’ve never attended a Special Olympics event, we encourage you to check one out and join us next year for this great event.

Rock Roberts: Building on Four Decades of Dedication

February 20, 2018

When Robert (Rock) Roberts started working for Lee Company in December 1977, he knew his bosses had high expectations. “When they hired me, I told them I could do the work or they could let me go,” Roberts says. “Forty years later, I’m still here.”

Still here – and still doing the work! During his time with Lee Company, Roberts has handled a wide variety of duties, including establishment of our first fabrication shop, and has won numerous safety awards and two awards of excellence in construction. Today, as a Field Superintendent, Roberts uses the experience gained over the past four decades to train others just learning the trades. In mentoring these new hires, Roberts is carrying on a proud Lee Company tradition: passing knowledge along, so all employees can thrive.

“Many of the men and women I have worked with here have become more than co-workers; they are family,” Roberts says. “My job now is to train our new employees in the proper and safe techniques to work and install equipment and piping. It’s one of the most rewarding aspects of my job – being able to prepare the next generation of Lee Company.”

Richard Perko, President and CEO of Lee Company, says Roberts has been an “incredible asset” in the field and, for the past 11 years, as an instructor for Lee Company University, a free technical training school open to employees.

“Robert has taught classes in HVAC, piping, plumbing and now welding,” Perko says. “I can’t say enough about someone who would not only give 40 years of their life to Lee Company, but also give so much time teaching others. That is the definition of servant leadership!”

Congratulations to Rock Roberts for creating a legacy of dedication and service, and “Thank You!” for building your career at Lee Company!

Lee Company Extends Technology Leadership with Full-Service Portal

November 07, 2017

New site allows customers to request service, book appointments and track progress online

  • Lee Company launches 24/7 portal for comprehensive, convenient customer service
  • Easy-to-use site accommodates time constraints of busy homeowners

A Full Online Experience for Lee Company Customers

Lee Company, recognized as an industry leader for the introduction of smart glasses technology in home services, is taking the next step forward – using technology to better serve customers with a portal that supports a full online experience.

The Lee Company Customer Portal enables homeowners to request service and book appointments online whenever it’s convenient, 24/7. The portal is also designed to make it easy for customers to track the status of service requests, and get updates on the Lee Company technician scheduled to come to their home.

“We know customers want a full online experience – they’re trying to check things off the ‘to do’ list while they’re between meetings, picking up kids, always on the go,” says Dan Kalman, Senior Vice President of Home Services. “With the launch of our new portal, Lee Company is raising the bar on customer service for everything from scheduling annual HVAC maintenance to tracking repair work.”

Kalman says it should take Lee Company customers a minute or less to register on the site. After they are registered, booking appointments is simply one of the online options. Customers can also set up a home profile that will allow them to track information about their home’s HVAC systems, electric and plumbing systems, and more. Online chat is available too.

“Launching this portal has been at the top of my own ‘to do’ list,” says Kalman. “We’ve seen the benefits technology brings to our customers, and we’re confident the portal will be a tremendous asset. It’s easy to use, and provides a really convenient way for busy homeowners to stay on top of maintenance and repair needs, and the service work conducted.”

The portal is an addition to Lee Company’s customer service options. Customers can still call the company’s customer service phone line at 615-567-1000, and are encouraged to do that if there is an emergency or same-day service is required.

We Hit the Mark – Again!

August 14, 2017

Together, we did it! On Friday, August 11th, with our wonderful title sponsors and supporters, Lee Company raised more than $19,000 at the recent Justice Shoot – the clay shoot, held to benefit Justice Mercy International (JMI).

The money raised helps JMI provide essential assistance to children in Moldova, a former Soviet republic in Eastern Europe.

“The Justice Shoot that Lee Company puts together every year to benefit JMI is one of our favorite days of the year,” says Mary Katharine Hunt, JMI Executive Director. “It’s a great day of fun and team-building that also raises significant money to help protect vulnerable children from trafficking in the country of Moldova. Thank you, Lee Company, for making justice personal!”

Helping children in Moldova illustrates our belief that community is not defined by geography; our community goes far beyond county and state lines. We are blessed to be able to support this organization. And we couldn’t do it without you! Thanks to everyone involved.

Our special thanks and gratitude to the 2017 Justice Shoot title sponsors: Care Supply; Ed’s Supply; Ferguson; J. Smith Lanier; Kenny Pipe & Supply; Mechanical Resource Group; Pinnacle Financial Partners; Sunbelt Rentals; Viega; Trane; and Trillium Construction.
