Ensuring Insurance Success – Asurion Insurance

October 21, 2016

  • 2016 Eagle and Excellence Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
  • Client: Asurion Insurance Services
  • Electrical Commercial/Institutional Under $2 million category

Congratulations to the Lee Company team who worked on the Asurion Insurance Services project! Their outstanding work was recently recognized by the Greater Tennessee Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) with an Eagle Award in the Electrical Commercial/Institutional under $2 million division. The project also received an Award of Excellence from the North Alabama Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

You only get one chance to make a first impression. Asurion Insurance Services, a global IT company, wanted the first floor of its national headquarters to look better to visitors, including prospective employees and clients. After all, the impression you make matters, and Asurion works with such leading companies as Target, Visa and Direct TV.

Asurion knew its atrium lobby and first-floor restrooms needed renovating. But the Nashville HQ houses more than 1200 employees and a call center. The project had to be completed with no power outages or work interruptions.

To ensure success, Asurion hired Lee Company for the renovations. Lee Company upgraded the facility to modern LED high-efficiency lighting and updated all the plumbing to fully automated fixtures.

The Lee Company team made a lasting impression, working days, nights and weekends to complete the job beautifully and without any interruptions for employees on site. Congrats and thanks to everyone on the team!

Success is Sweet – Maplehurst Bakeries

October 21, 2016

  • 2016 Eagle and Excellence Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
  • Client: Maplehurst Bakeries
  • Category: Mechanical Industrial $2 – 10 million

Congratulations and thanks to our team on the Maplehurst Bakeries project, recently honored by the Greater Tennessee Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) with an Eagle Award in the Mechanical Industrial $2 – $10 million category. The project also received an Award of Excellence from the North Alabama Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

Maplehurst Bakeries, established in 1967, produces frozen bakery goods that are sold in grocery stores, supermarkets and other retail outlets throughout North America. As the business grew, the company decided to expand operations with a new manufacturing facility in Lebanon, TN.

With demands high and the schedule tight, Stellar – the general contractor – clearly needed a well-seasoned team of professionals on the job. Having worked with Lee Company before, Stellar asked us to handle the ductwork and equipment associated with the HVAC system, along with some of the plumbing.

The partnership was a recipe for success. Despite delays, scheduling issues and weather challenges, Lee Company, Stellar and Maplehurst worked together to find solutions and keep everything moving. With 11,714 field hours worked, Lee Company had zero recordable accidents and the new facility was ready for Maplehurst to begin baking test products by the March 2016 deadline. Now, Stellar is talking with us about the next project – an expansion of this facility. Sweet!

Keep It Clean – Proper Polymers

October 21, 2016

  • 2016 Eagle and Merit Awards from Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)
  • Client: Proper Polymers
  • Category: Mechanical Industrial Under $2 million

Congratulations to the Lee Company team who worked on the Proper Polymers project! Their outstanding work has been recognized by the Greater Tennessee Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) with an Eagle Award in the Mechanical Industrial under $2 million division. The project also received a Merit Award from the North Alabama Chapter of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).

When Proper Polymers decided to locate their new production facility in Pulaski, TN, the general contractor, Brindley Construction, called Lee Company. We met with the Proper Poymer team, assessed the situation, and launched a design development process to provide ventilation, heating, air-conditioning, plumbing, process cooling, and compressed air to support the current and future needs of the facility.

It was a big job with a big challenge. The existing building chosen to house the new facility was not designed to meet the needs of a very clean and close-tolerance manufacturing process. Lee Company suggested creating a new – and separate – mechanical room on the exterior of the building.

Throughout the project, the Lee Company team worked closely with Proper Polymer’s production engineers, a successful working relationship that enabled an accelerated production start in September 2015. The proper response? Congratulations and thanks to all involved!

2016 Vans4Cans campaign results are in. We did it!

October 06, 2016

There’s only one way to start this message: Thank you. From the bottom of our heart, thank you.

Lee Company donates 63,127 pounds of food to Second Harvest Food Bank

We have just delivered the food collected during our Vans4Cans campaign to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Together with our customers and partners, Lee Company raised 63,127 pounds of food. That soars by our goal of 40,000 pounds.

This is the biggest donation Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee has received in the past four years, and the second highest food drive in the history of our Vans4Cans campaign. What does that mean?

Because of you, a mother won’t stand before an empty pantry, with no idea of what to do.

Because of you, a father won’t have to say, “No,” when his child asks for dinner.

Because of you, a family will sit down at the dinner table, bow their heads, and give thanks for food.

The entire Lee Company team pulled together to make this happen. From our home services technicians to our construction teams, everyone did their part and kept the drive as energized as ever. Our support team went above and beyond, using proceeds from a bake sale and turkey chili sale to buy food for the drive.

Every team contributed. And every contribution – of food or financial support – matters: When $1 can buy five pounds of food, every penny counts, and our teams raised every penny possible.

Our tremendous success with the 2016 Vans4Cans campaign demonstrates our commitment to imagining life better for our community. Thank you. I am humbled to work with a team that daily demonstrates the power of believing, belonging and becoming.

With gratitude,

Richard Perko, President & CEO.

We Hit the Mark

September 14, 2016

Together, we did it! With our wonderful title sponsors and supporters, Lee Company raised more than $20,000 at the recent Justice Shoot – the August clay shoot, held to benefit Justice Mercy International (JMI).

The money raised helps JMI provide essential assistance to children in Moldova, a former Soviet republic in Eastern Europe.

“The Justice Shoot that Lee Company puts together every year to benefit JMI is one of our favorite days of the year,” says Mary Katharine Hunt, JMI Executive Director. “It’s a great day of fun and team-building that also raises significant money to help protect vulnerable children from trafficking in the country of Moldova. Thank you, Lee Company, for making justice personal!”

Helping children in Moldova illustrates our belief that community is not defined by geography; our community goes far beyond county and state lines. We are blessed to be able to support this organization. And we couldn’t do it without you! Thanks to everyone involved.

Our special thanks and gratitude to the 2016 Justice Shoot title sponsors: Care Supply; Ed’s Supply; Ferguson; J. Smith Lanier; Kenny Pipe & Supply; Layton Construction; Mechanical Resource Group; Pinnacle Financial Partners; Solomon Builders; Sunbelt Rentals; Trane; and Trillium Construction.

You and Lee Company: We CAN make a difference

August 25, 2016

A can of tuna fish is a small thing. Unless your pantry is empty. Unless you don’t know what to feed your kids. Unless you’re hungry and losing hope.

Hunger is a real problem here. According to the latest statistics, 1 in 7 people (including 1 in 5 children) in our community don’t have enough to eat. And you might be surprised at how many of them are our neighbors, hard-working people who too often have to choose between paying bills and buying food.

Fortunately, together, we CAN make a difference.

The Lee Company team invites you to join us in the Vans4Cans program, now through the end of September. It’s simple:

  • Lee Company technicians are collecting canned goods and other non-perishable food items during service calls. Please donate.
  • Don’t need service right now? You can drop off food donations at any Lee Company office.

When you participate in the Vans4Cans program, you provide the food that’s needed – and so much more. You provide true sustenance. You provide hope.

Help us help them.

Lee Company is honored to be a longtime supporter of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Our Vans4Cans program supports Second Harvest and the Food Bank of North Alabama.

Year after year, your support makes this program a success. Thank you!

Bill Lee is presented volunteer honor by the YMCA

July 12, 2016

Bill Lee, chairman of our company, is a longtime volunteer with the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, having joined the YMCA’s board of directors in 2008. According to the Y, Bill has been “a true champion for positive youth development in our community.”

The life-changing power of Bill’s involvement was clear at the YMCA’s recent awards ceremony, when 16-year-old Adam Smith presented Bill, his mentor, with the organization’s highest volunteer honor: the Order of the Red Triangle.

“If I hadn’t met Bill, I probably wouldn’t be thinking about my future today,” Adam said. “I would be going to a low-performance school, I might not be in sports, and I probably would be in a lot of trouble. Bill brings out the light in people that others may not see. He brought out the light in me.”

Accepting the award, Bill told the crowd that he’s the one who has learned – from Adam.

“As volunteers, we really become the recipients not only of awards, but of life-changing experiences,” Bill said. “The difficulties and lack of choices and the dangers that lie for a young man like Adam have been completely made aware to me, and that has changed my desire to not only impact one kid’s life, but makes me want to impact a lot of kids’ lives.”

One by one, we can all make a difference. Watch the video of Adam and Bill here – the few minutes will truly brighten your day. Then, take the next step! Share the Lee Company tradition. Get involved.
