We’re honored to share this project was recognized in 2025 with both an Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) award, and a 2026 Associated General Contractors (AGC) award!
When Maury County set out to build a new justice center in Columbia, Tennessee, they needed more than a typical electrical installation. This three story, 58,000 square foot government facility would support courtrooms, offices, and public spaces — all of it depending on safe, reliable, and intelligently designed power.
Lee Company was selected as the design build electrical lead, responsible for delivering a high performance, government grade system with zero compromises. From early modeling to final trim out, every conduit run, panel location, and receptacle was part of a carefully planned, collaboratively executed design.

A High Visibility Project With High Expectations
The Maury County Justice Center had clear priorities:
- Provide safe, dependable power to courtrooms and administrative spaces
- Integrate lighting, controls, and life safety systems across three floors
- Support long term maintenance with accessible, well coordinated panels and pathways
- Maintain schedule and safety on a busy, ground up construction site
As a result, the electrical scope went far beyond “just wiring.” Lee Company was responsible for the complete power distribution system, lighting and lighting controls, fire alarm infrastructure, low voltage support, and full conduit and wiring for all spaces.

Design Build Precision From Day One
To meet those expectations, our team leaned on design build delivery, combining in house engineering with field expertise. Over the 16 month project, Lee Company:
- Installed the complete power distribution system
- Delivered lighting systems and integrated lighting controls across courtrooms and administrative zones
- Installed fire alarm infrastructure and low voltage support systems
- Completed full conduit and wiring systems throughout the building
- Coordinated panel locations for efficient access and long term maintenance
BIM and CAD modeling were used to plan layouts, resolve conflicts, and reduce rework before materials ever hit the jobsite. Trimble based layout then brought that digital precision into the field, helping crews install conduit, boxes, and equipment exactly where they belonged.

Smart Tools and In House Innovation
Innovation on this project was as much about method as it was about materials. Key tools and approaches included:
- BIM and CAD modeling for layout precision and clash detection
- Trimble layout implementation to translate models into accurate field locations
- Hubbell SNAPConnect receptacles to reduce labor, improve safety, and support early troubleshooting
These tools allowed the team to install faster and more safely, with fewer surprises and less rework. Our in-house engineering group worked in real time with field leadership to solve coordination issues as they surfaced, keeping the project moving and the schedule on track.

Safety, Schedule, and Culture on the Jobsite
From Murfreesboro to Shelbyville, crew members brought their best to the site every day. On site leadership emphasized communication, collaboration, and safety — creating a jobsite culture that energized everyone involved.
The results speak for themselves:
- Ground up construction completed on schedule
- Rough in and trim out phases executed with tight coordination
- 100% on time delivery with zero safety incidents

Raising the Bar for Civic Spaces
The Maury County Justice Center is more than a new building on the square. It is a critical piece of public infrastructure designed to serve a growing community for decades to come.
By combining design build precision, advanced layout tools, SNAPConnect technology, and a strong on site culture, Lee Company delivered an electrical system that meets the demands of a modern justice facility and sets a higher standard for civic projects across the region.
For counties, cities, and agencies planning their next courthouse or public facility, this project is proof that you don’t have to choose between schedule, safety, and performance. With the right partner, you can have all three.
