The day starts early in our fab shop, but not in a rush. It starts with intention.

We gather for a quick safety moment, stretch and flex, and talk through the plan. Blueprints are reviewed, roles are clear, and everyone knows how their work fits into the bigger picture, shaping the cities we live in. It’s how we keep quality high and stay ready for everything from everyday jobs to large, complex projects.

Where Raw Materials Become Something More

Step onto the floor, and you’ll notice it right away: the sound of machinery, the glow of plasma cutters, and the steady rhythm of progress.

Sheets of metal quickly take on new life. Cut, shaped, and assembled into ductwork, piping, and custom-built components; each piece is part of something bigger. Our fab shop helps make projects more efficient by building key systems ahead of time and supporting smoother installs in the field. This work supports everything from new construction to ongoing Facility Solutions, helping buildings run smoothly long after installation.

And the variety? That’s what keeps things interesting.

“I think the most surprising thing about the fab shop is the sheer range of things that we do. We will design duct systems … We do piping, plumbing, sheet metal. I’ve made car parts for 100-year-old cars … anything that we’re asked to do.”

– Dean V.

Precision Meets Technology

Every piece starts with a plan.

Our Virtual Design Center team creates detailed digital designs, and those plans come to life through precise laser machines, automated rollers, and plasma cutters. This blend of technology and craftsmanship allows for accuracy and consistency across every build.

Craftsmanship You Can Feel

Technology plays a big role, but it’s the people who bring it all together.

A steady hand on a weld. A trained eye checking quality. A team working side by side to make sure everything looks and performs the same, no matter who built it.

“We’ve got probably … 60 people working here, but I work directly with four other guys … we all discuss and work together … you shouldn’t be able to tell who did it. It should be the same regardless.”

– Karl M.

That kind of consistency is supported at every level, with leaders who stay connected to the work.

Built for Efficiency and Safety

Working in a controlled indoor environment has its advantages.

There’s consistency in the schedule, protection from the elements, and a strong focus on safety built into each day. Pre-fabrication also helps reduce time on job sites and supports safer, more efficient installations from start to finish.

A Career That Grows with You

For some, the fab shop is where it all begins. For others, it’s where they build a long and rewarding career.

It’s a great entry point to learn the fundamentals of the trades in a hands-on, team-focused environment before heading into the field. If you’re ready to get started, you can explore how to Learn A Trade on our website. The fab shop can also be a place where many choose to stay and grow their careers by building expertise in fabrication, technology, and design.

Whether you enjoy working with your hands, learning new tools, or being part of a close-knit team, there’s room to grow.

“I would say the thing that would surprise most people is the range of things that we fabricate … Most people are surprised about the ability of everything that we can do in here.”

– Dylan W.

Building the Future From the Inside Out

By the end of the day, the results are clear. Finished sections are loaded onto trucks, ready to head out and become part of something bigger.
