Mitzi K., one of our sheet metal helpers in our construction group, was recently honored by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Nashville chapter. To kick off Women in Construction week, NAWIC hosted a breakfast and awarded Mitzi with Tradeswoman of the Year!

Our local NAWIC chapter’s mission is to:
- UNITE for their mutual benefit, women who have been actively employed in various phases of the construction industry
- ADVOCATE cooperation, fellowship, and better understanding among the members of the association
- PROMOTE education and contribute to the betterment of the construction industry
- ENCOURAGE women to pursue and establish their careers in the construction industry
- PROVIDE members an awareness of the legislative process, and legislation as it relates to the construction industry

To be a Tradeswoman of the Year, NAWIC looks for these qualities:
- A woman, working in a skilled trade in Middle Tennessee/Greater Nashville area
- A journeyman, mechanic, foreman, superintendent, or similar role
- Someone who has worked in trade for more than 5 years
- Someone who is skilled at trade, has exceptional work/craftsmanship, and takes pride in quality of work
- Someone with a strong work ethic
- Someone who has leadership qualities
- Someone who is a good role model, team player, and has a positive attitude

She is predominantly sheet metal, but also performs plumbing and just got her Medical Gas certification. She embraces our technology adoptions such as being a front-line user of Autodesk Build.
