EXCELLENCE IN CONSTRUCTION: St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital
It takes a special team, with specific expertise, to meet the requirements of healthcare customers. Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, Tenn., trusted Lee Company’s Special Projects team to update a critical portion of the hospital’s HVAC system. By working nights and weekends, Lee Company had rooms in the surgery area back up and running before the weekly rush of patient appointments. The nurse manager on the floor was so delighted, she couldn’t find the words to describe how impressed she was. She did say, “Pleasantly surprised doesn’t come close to doing this justice.” Delighting healthcare customers? That’s special!
St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital received the 2019 Merit Award from the Greater Tennessee Associated Builders and Contractors chapter and the 2019 Merit Award from the North Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors Chapter.
Special people, special projects
The success of the project is a direct testament to exceptional teamwork throughout Lee Company. Every step of this job, from sales through construction, went flawlessly. The job was done on time, on budget, and there were no accidents. Lee Company met the hospital’s tight time-frame, installing both units in two weekends. The rooms were back up and running Sunday afternoon, well before the Monday morning rush.
Saint Thomas Rutherford is overjoyed with the sales team, the construction team, and the end results. The nurse manager on the floor was so delighted with the project, she told the hospital’s director of facilities that she “couldn’t find the words” to describe how impressed she was, noting that, “Pleasantly surprised doesn’t come close to doing this justice.”
While the HVAC assignment for Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital is not a large job in terms of the bottom line, it is a perfect example of the role Special Projects plays in performing tough jobs quickly and professionally, with as little disturbance to the customer as possible. Based on the success of this first direct assignment, the hospital is already working with Lee Company on a number of additional projects.
